Media tablets, android and new technology

![]() During my last trip to New York I bought one of the new Asus eee pad transformers, which is similar to an Ipad, but crucially has 2 USB ports as well as SD and micro SD ports. Unlike the ipad it also has the capacity to work with flash online. With the dock the Asus will run for 16 hours which of course is way beyond the capacity of most laptops and netbooks. It’s a fantastic unit, well built, fast processor and perfect for international travelling which inevitably includes a lot of waiting around at airports and lots of long flights. I already use a Samsung Galaxy Tab which is perfect for video viewing during long haul flights. Although the Samsung has a more limited battery life of around 4 hours, with a separate lithium battery this can be extended up to eight. New higher capacity SD and micro SD cards have transformed the ability to store much larger amounts of information more easily. Video and audio capture devices have also improved massively and during overseas trips the Lumix GF1 and Cannon HFS21 are essential tools for recording events. The GF1 in particular takes brilliant photos and I am planning to get the GF3 when it is launched later this month. I also use a number of audio recorders all made by Sony which are invaluable for recording client sessions. The PCM D50 and its bigger brother the PCM D1 are fantastic devices. There are cheaper units made by other companies but in my experience it always pays to buy the very best. Later this month I am running trainings in Boulder Colorado and I’ll be taking the usual equipment to record the event. The previous year’s workshop was recorded on Cannon HD cameras and released on DVD in both PAL and NTSC formats as the DVD set “Provocative Change Works in the USA”. Keith Mann did a great job in filming and editing the material. The DVD is available in here http://www.nickkemp.com/spartcart/video-dvds |
